Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has stocked most of 33 western Washington lakes with 75,000 large rainbow trout. Most of the trout are 12 to 17 inches in length, with some weighing six pounds, said Chris Donley, WDFW inland fish program manager. Donley also said he expects angling to be very good throughout the winter months. A list of those lakes planted with rainbows can be found on the department's website. During the week of Nov. 4-10, anglers on the Cowlitz River were catching mostly coho, according to WDFW. Also, Tacoma Power employees recovered 1,506 coho, 1,227 jacks, 294 fall chinook, five jacks, 11 summer steelhead, 68 cutthroat trout, and four chum salmon during seven days of operations at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery Separator.
