Jeanette Hahn Smith September 29, 1930-September 13, 2014 Jeanette Smith, age 83, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 in Gig Harbor, WA at St. Anthony Hospital. She was born in Tacoma, WA, the seventh of ten children born to Jenny and Arthur Wilhelm Hahn. She was raised in the Elgin area. Jeanette had a full life of raising six children and at age twenty-one was literally building a house for her family. She was multi-talented with many accomplishments. She raised 10,000 laying hens with her chicken business, did plumbing and electrical work on houses, logged, drove a skidder, rebuilt two pickup trucks; a "49 and "59 Chevy, painted oil paintings, made wedding cakes, crocheted, knitted, quilted, had a saw mill, built two A-frame houses and several extensions to homes, split shakes and did roofing, learned how to fly airplanes, built a fifty foot sailboat, built three airplanes, gardened well into her sixties, and built her three story A framed log cabin house by the lake in Belfair on Hood Canal. She helped build Tacoma Narrows Airport and an airstrip near her summer home in Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emory Smith, her children John Watson, Mark Watson, and Jenne Watson. Surviving children are Steven Watson and wife Jaclyn of Eatonville; Terri Marrs of Tahuya; and Dale Watson of Vaughn; grandchildren Jason Watson, Corey Watson, Beth Mickelson, Sean Stacey, Jacob Watson, Nicole Watson, and Jessica Watson, five great grandchildren; her siblings, Albert Hahn and wife JoAnne of Port Orchard, Bertha Elliot and husband Wayne of Danville, Iowa, and John Hahn of Lake Bay, WA. Services will be held at the home of Albert and JoAnne Hahn, 9879 Scatterwood, Port Orchard, WA on Sunday, September 27 at 2 p.m.
