Kaelin, Newman, Promitas district champs

As they have throughout the 2013 high school track season, Eatonville's Justin Kaelin and Daisey Newman were stars again in the weight events in the class 1A Tri-District track and field meet. Kaelin, who's leading the state this year in the shot put, won that event at 57 feet 11 inches and placed second in the discus, while Newman was the girls' discus winne at 111 feet 3 inches during the two-day district competition in Seattle. Another Cruiser, Zach Promitas, won the 110-meter hurdles title in 15.61 seconds. Promitas, Kaelin and Newman will lead a contingent of Cruisers into the 1A state championships this Friday and Saturday at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
