Justin Kaelin's school record in the shot put helped Eatonville finish sixth in the boys' team standings in the Tacoma Invitational high school track and field meet last Saturday. Besides breaking the year-old record, Kaelin's toss of 56 feet 6 inches won the event by nearly seven feet over the runnerup effort of 49-10 by Wright's Wunmi Oyetug, and also is the best mark in the state so far this season. Kaelin also finished third in the javelin at 138-3. In the girls' meet, Eatonville was paced to a 13th-place finish by Daisy Newman, who finished second in the 2nd in the shot put at 39-2, fourth in the discus at 106-4 and seventh in the javelin at 96-'7. Twenty-nine men's teams and 28 girls' squads competed at Lincoln Bowl. Jackson won both competitions. Graham-Kapowsin finished 28th in the boys' meet. Other top-five finishers for Eatonville included Alexa Graddy (fourth in the 100, 13.37), Joe Evans (fourth in the long jump, 21-1), Logan Moose (fifth in the high jump, 5-10), Johnthan Warner (fifth in the Javelin, 139-11), Jeff Patterson (fifth in the 300 high hurdles, 41.76), and the girls distance medley foursome of Taylor Cearley, Madison Tobin, Emily Padgett and Sarah Litzenburger (fourth in 14:44.34).
