By Bob Brown Contributing writer Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has started stocking western Washington lakes with some large trout as part of the department's new Fall into Fishing promotion program. WDFW hatchery crews have begun stocking 33 akes with 75,000 large rainbow trout. Fall into Fishing will continue into November, leading up to the department's second annual "Black FridayGÇ¥ fishing event on the day after Thanksgiving. "We are launching Fall into Fishing in response to requests from anglers to increase year-round fishing opportunities. Last year's Black Friday event was very successful, so we decided to repeat it and also to expand our fall stocking. Anglers can expect to find 12 to 17-inch trout, as well as some five to six-pound trout in many Puget Sound-area and southwest Washington lakes. As always, we encourage everyone to get family and friends involved in the sport of fishing.GÇ¥ said Chris Donley, inland lakes program manager. Locally, Kapowsin Lake will be planted with 4,000 trout in November. Approximately 1,200 of those fish weigh 1.5 pounds and are from Trout Lodge. Ohop Lake will be planted with 1,750 trout, and Thurston County's Offutt Lake will be planted with 1,050. All three will receive those plants this month. In Lewis County, Fort Borst Park Pond and South Lewis County Park Pond will be planted with 2,000 each next month. The department's stocking plan is available for viewing on the department's website.
