Tanwax Lake was the site of a Heroes on the Water fishing event hosted by the Northwest chapter of the non-profit organization that helps military veterans enjoy the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. What looks like a day of paddling and fishing is actually "something much deeper and long-lasting," a Heroes on the Water spokesman said. More information is at heroesonthewater.org. The Tanwax Lake event was held April 16, before the start of the 2016 lowland lakes fishing season. Only veterans were permitted to participate. The lake was stocked with more than 2,000 five-pound, hatchery-raised trout.
