Morgan taking volleyball talents to Central

Kyla Morgan, who's been a four-year starter and all-league performer at Bethel High School, has signed a letter of intent to attend Central Washington University and play volleyball for the Wildcats, starting with the 2016 season next fall. "We are very excited about Kyla because she is exceptional at the skills that produce success," said Central coach Mario Andaya. "Passing is a premium, but defense and ball control produce success in the GNAC (Great Northwest Athletic Conference, in which the Wildcats compete). Kyla sees the game well and will help produce more scoring opportunities. She will improve our ball control immediately." The Wildcats last season reached the NCAA Division II regionals for the fourth straight year, but bowed out with a loss to California State-San Bernardino in the opening round in Anchorage, Alaska. Morgan, who is 5-foot-3, was named three times to the All-South Puget Sound League 4A team, most recently after her senior season with Bethel last fall. She was named Best Defensive Player her freshman year, before being named Most Valuable Player her sophomore year and junior years. Morgan is also a member of Bethel's track team and a four-time scholar-athlete award recipient. She plans to major in nutrition at Central.
