Municipal Court leaving town

Anyone having business before Eatonville's Municipal Court will soon have to take it out of town.
The Town Council has agreed to put Eatonville's court system under the control of the city of Bonney Lake. Court officials there will handle the traffic infractions and other cases that go through Municipal Court. An official date for the changeover hasn't been finalized, but Sept. 30 has been proposed.
Council members voted Sept. 10 to accept an agreement for the court services that was reached between the administrations of Eatonville and Bonney Lake.
Eatonville Mayor Ray Harper recommended the new arrangement as a way to save the town the expense of trials and future upgrades of security for its courtroom at Town Hall. Eatonville is grappling with a budget deficit.
The money paid by citizens for fines for Eatonville-issued infractions will go to the town. Bonney Lake will be paid by Eatonville for each case it handles.
