Nisqually pennant drive in final stretch

Victories in two of its three baseball games last week kept Eatonville High School in the race for the Nisqually League high school baseball title with one week to go. Entering the stretch run, the Cruisers were 8-4 and alone in third place, trailing frontrunner Cedar Park (11-2) and Cascade Christian (9-3). Eatonville scored all of its runs in the fifth inning to thump Life Christian 12-2 last Friday. That capped a week that began with a 12-11 come-from-behind victory over Vashon and included a 5-1 loss to Wright. Against life Christian, the Cruisers were trailing 1-0 until going wild in the fifth, sending 17 batters to the plate before finishing with their dozen-run explosion. Jesse Mustered drove in two runs with a single, Brock Tolleson homered for two more, and Dylan Mann, who had scored the tying run at the start of the inning, sent another pair of Cruisers home by looping a single. RBIs also were tallied by Ryley Gray and Jesse Bollen. Eatonville played errorless defense and threw out four Life Christian baserunners. (Read more in the May 1 print edition of The Dispatch)
