Dave Ellis, deputy director of Northwest Trek, has died.
Ellis, 65, died Tuesday, according to Kris Sherman, a spokeswoman for Tacoma Metro Parks, which operates the wildlife park near Eatonville.
Ellis, who lived in Eatonvlile, was part of Northwest Trek's staff for 28 years. Trek opened 35 years ago, on July 17, 1975. The 723-acre zoological park is home to native Northwest wildlife that inhabit free-roaming areas and exhibits.
