One person died and another was injured when a pickup truck crashed Sunday near Alder. By Monday morning, the State Patrol hadn't disclosed the name of the fatality, who was described as a University Place resident, because the victim's family hadn't been notified. The injured motorist, who was the driver in the accident, was identified as Matthew Hester, 25, of Fort Riley, Kan. Accoding to the State Patrol, the truck struck a guardrail on Pilgrim Road East one mile north of Alder, rolled and came to a stop in the road's northbound lane. The road was closed for four hours after the accident.
