Twenty-two artists. Three days. It's almost time for the seventh annual East Pierce County Open Studio Tour, a self-guided, free tour of artists' studios from Puyallup to Eatonville.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 4, 5 and 6, visitors can meet the artists and see demonstrations of painting, glass making, jewelry, leather, wood carving and wood burning. Drawings will be held at studios for hand-crafted items.
A map of the tour and other information is available at www.openstudiotour.org, brochures will be available at all the locations, and signs with balloons along the route will help guide drivers.
Donations of food and cash for local food banks can be made at the studios.
The tour "is a great educational opportunity and a time to do some shopping direct from the artists," said Karen Davis, an organizer of the event.
Examples of participating artists are watercolor painter David Craig of Eatonville, whose family has Native American roots, and Becci Crowe of Puyallup, who specializes in wildlife portraits and has visited 41 countries.
