Orville Osborn

Orville Earl Osborn passed away peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning Aug. 1, 2012. He had just turned 80 years old on July 22. Orville was one of seven children born to Lee Osborn and Effie (Ransweiler) Osborn, in Ashford, Wash. The Osborn and Ransweiler families were both early homesteaders in the Ashford and National communities sitting in the shadows of Mt. Rainier. Orv's grandfather, Bill Osborn, staked his claim in 1888, and built his home at the base of a small foothill of Mt Rainier GÇô aptly named Osborn Mountain. The Ransweilers arrived soon after and built in the valley known as National. Both old farmhouses still remain but are no longer in the family. Orville worked as a logger and laborer in his younger days, including work on the Mayfield Dam and Bridge. Eventually he became a qualified large-equipment operator and spent a number of years working in Alaska on the pipeline. He is survived by four children GÇô Terry Lee, Burien, Wash., Larry Osborn, Round Hill, Va., Joe Osborn, Eatonville, Wash., and Laurie Anderson, Ashford, and former wife Beverly Krueger. He was preceded in death by another son, Daryl Osborn. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren - Daryl Osborn, Jenny Osborn, Joseph Osborn, Josh Osborn, Jordan Osborn, Jeremy Osborn, Josh Anderson and Jody Anderson GÇô and seven great-grandchildren. The family will have a graveside service on Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. in Eatonville. A light lunch and time to share memories will follow the service at 183 Baumgartner Place NE. in Eatonville. Donations can be made to Hospice. We would also like to sincerely thank the Georgian House in Lakewood for their kindness to dad and the family during his stay there.
