The incumbents were apparent winners in general election races for Tacoma Port Commissioner. Don Johnson had 72 percent of the votes to defeat Bruce Cook, while Clare Petrich accumulated 68 percent against Dick Walters. Johnson and Petrich, along with the rest of the five-member commission, will continue to have their hands on the helm of a port whose real estate and marine cargo operations support more than 29,000 jobs and generate nearly $3 billion in economic activity, according to port officials. Johnson has been a commissioner for eight years, Petrich for 19.
