The quest of Eatonville town officials to find a way to afford police and fire protection services will continueu Monday with a meeting to consider placing a levy to fund public safety before voters in this November's election. The special meeting of the Town Council is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. at Eatonville Community Center. Mayor Mike Schaub has said that the town needs a sustainable system for funding its police and fire departments. He has suggested merging the fire department with South Pierce Fire and Rescue as one way to continue fire and emergency medical services and also afford police. According to Schaub, there is no plan to put police services under the control of the Pierce County Sheriff Department. That proposal was made two years ago by then-mayor Ray Harper but was rejected by the council.
