Regional parks leader named

Palmer "Chip" Jenkins Jr. has been named deputy regional director for resource stewardship and planning for the National Park Service's Pacific West region.
He'll manage park operations for 17 national parks, including Mount Rainier, in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He'll also oversee cultural and natural resource programs and einvironmental compliance.
He replaces Rory Westberg, who retired after eight years in the position.
Jenkins has worked for the National Park Service since 1985, mostrecently serving as the superintendent of North Cascades National Park.
