Relay for (and celebration of) Life

The 13th annual Relay for Life in Eatonville was held last Saturday and Sunday in warm, sunny weather that matched the dispositions of its participants. Organizers of the local fund-raising event for the American Cancer Society call it a celebration of survivorship GÇô an opportunity to demonsstrate and support the shared hope of someday ending cancer. And that was the feeling pervading the football field and track at Eatonville High School as teams of volunteers walked laps The 22 teams and a combined 179 participants have raised $48,015, according to organizers. The tally pushed the total amount of donations generated by the Eatonville event past $600,000 since its start in 2002. (Read more in the July 17 print edition of The Dispatch)
