Roadwork affects park visitors

Closures and traffic delays are anticipated this week for visitors to Mount Rainier National Park as work continues on the Nisqually-to-Paradise road project. Paradise Valley Road will be closed Thursday but won't affect access to Paradise, park officials said. In addition, repaving between the park's Nisqually entrance and the Longmire area is ongoing, though none is scheduled for Friday. Motorists should be prepared for construction-related delays of 15 minutes or more, officials said. Improvements of the heavily used roadway are part of a lengthy project to help restore and preserve it.
