Spays, neuters, microchips reduce pet fees

New license fees for dogs and cats in Eatonville, including discounts for animals that are spayed or neutered and have an identifying microchip, have been set by the Town Council. For animals that are spayed or neutered, pet owners will pay $25 for dogs and $17 for cats. The fee is $55 for dogs and cats that aren't spayed. Senior citizens will pay $10 for dogs and $6 for cats if the pets are spayed or neutered, and $35 if they aren't. The senior rates apply for people who are at least 60 years old. Microchipping their animals also saves money for pet owners to the tune of a 20 percent discount on license fees. The license regulations approved May 9 by the council state that pet owners who don't buy a new license within 30 days after the old one expires will be assessed a $10 late penalty. Licenses are for one-year periods. The council decided not to waive license fees for service dogs, turning down a suggestion by Councilman Bob Walter.
