The free summer lunch program for students in the Bethel School District has begun.
Lunches will be available to children 18 years of age and younger at two sites from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday to Friday through Aug. 16 (except on July 4). The locations are Spanaway High School at 1305 168thd St. E., and Thompson Elementary School at 303 159th St. E.
District officials said that through the Simplified Summer Food Program of Children, the lunches will be offered at no charge to attending children 18 years of age and younger.
In addition, Tacoma-Pierce County YMCA will host a physical activity and fitness program at each of the meal sites. Times and details are available by calling Spanaway Lake High at 253-683-5600 and Thompson Elementary at 253-683-5894.
