The three people hoping to become the next superintendent of Eatonville School District have similar backgrounds and experience, ranging from teaching to high-ranking administrative roles in education. The School Board expects to hire one of the three -Krestin Bahr, Chris Fritsch or Shannon Webster - after a series of community forums and visits to the district this week by the finalists. Fritsch gets his turn Monday to meet the public, students and school employees, followed by Webster on Tuesday and Bahr on Thursday. All three forums will begin at 7 p.m. in Eatonville Hgh School's auditorium. The remaining contenders to replace Rich Stewart, who will retire as superintendent in June at the end of the current school year, were selected by the board from among seven semi-finalists who were interviewed in private by board members April 13. The semi-finalists and eventual finalists emerged from an original field of 20 applicants. Nearly all of them are Washington residents. That includes Bahr, the Tacoma School District's director of secondary education for middle schools; Fritsch, assistant superintendent of Longview School District; and Webster, assistant superintendent of Hoquiam School District. The rest of their backgrounds: " Bahr has been the principal of Stewart Middle School, a high school and middle school teacher, and involved with management of the: School Improvement Grant Project , all in the Tacoma district. She earned her superintendent credentials through Washington State University, and has degrees from City University and Pacific Lutheran University. " Fritsch has spent most of his career in the Longview district, starting as a teacher. He has been the district's director of leadership and learning and principal of Mark Morris High School. He also was principal of North Beach Middle abd High School in Ocean Shores and a teacher in Texas. His superintendent credentials came from Washington State University, and his degrees from Portland State University and Pacific Lutheran University. " Webster has been a teacher in the the Aberdeen and Hoquiam school districts. Before her current position in the Hoquiam district, she was the district's director of curriculum and instruction and served as an elementary school principal in Hoquiam and Aberdeen. She gained her superintendent credentials through Seattle Pacific University, and she has degrees from University of Portland and St. Martin's University. Webster was a candidate in 2011 for superintendent of Montesano School District, which is located near Hoquiam. The School Board plans to pick Eatonville's new superintendent by May 1 and have their choice on the job July 1. Eatonville will have its third superintendent since 2010, the year Stewart was hired to replace Ray Arment, who retired.
