LET'S EAT By Carolyn Augustine Contributing writer Bright and cheerful, with wine-colored vinyl tablecloths, Amici's is a family-friendly place to eat some tasty Italian food. We went for lunch and found a full menu as well as a pasta and pizza buffet. The buffet cost $7.50 and was a good value with several kinds of thin-crust pizza, spaghetti and penne pasta, marinara and Alfredo sauce, and meatballs. Green salad, cut fresh vegetables and chocolate pudding completed the offerings. The pizza crust was outstanding, crisp and full of Italian-style seasonings. There were plenty of toppings of all kinds on the pizza, and it was refreshed constantly. The marinara was mildly spicy and thick and the meatballs seemed to be cooked in the sauce giving them a great flavor and texture. The Alfredo sauce was bland but cheesy. We also ordered the eggplant Parmesan at $14.99.-áIt came with salad or-ácheesy garlic bread, and we-átook the salad and ordered-áthe bread as an extra-áat $6.99, tira misu at $5.99, coffee at $2.50 and strawberry lemonade at $2.50. We substituted the creamy tomato sauce for marinara on the eggplant and asked for our dressing on the side for our salad, which came with it. Everything was very good. The eggplant could have used some salt, but it was easily added at the table. The tomato cream was a wonderful complement to the crisp, juicy vegetable, and the cheesy bread was crusty and tender. The tira misu was divine, and anyone who loves this Italian cheese cake would want more. Our server, John, was very patient, putting up with substitutions, requests for drier salads, and questions. He was cheerful and took care of our every need. The prices range from the cup of soup at $3.99, to the full cut prime rib at $23.99. The portions are large and we had plenty to take home.
