There's more than Wikipedia to students' learning

Anyone can research a subject on the Internet, but students who have Pierce County Library System cards can go one better. The library has re-launched its Tools for Students web page at tools.pcls.us, with seven free homework databases and two book lists to go along with other tools for help with homework and other studies. Services include professional tutors, practice tests and access to databases normally available only through membership. Students who already have a library card or sign up for one at www.piercecountylibrary.org/services/library-card can have access to: " Homework Help'Online tutors every day (except library holidays) from 1 to 10 p.m. for one-on-one help in English and Spanish. " Biography in Context GÇô brief bios with links to articles in newspapers, magazines and websites. " CultureGrams GÇô cultures of countries, provinces and states, including famous people and recipes. " GVRL Research Matters GÇô hundreds of full-text electronic books covering a wide range of subjects. " Opposing Viewpoints in Context. Opinions, articles and reference materials about controversial topics. " Pronunciator GÇô a wayfare way to learn any of 80 languages. " Science Online. Experiments, videos, biographies and science research. " NoveList K-8 Plus. Books to read for school and for fun. " TumbleBook Library eBooks for Kids. Students can have a book read to them, read along, play games or learn a language. Pierce County Library System, the fourth-largest in the state, serves more than 563,000 people throughout the county via online services and 20 branches. The latter include locations in Graham, Eatonville, South Hill and Parkland-Spanaway. The library system is funded mostly through property taxes.
