An apparent burglary and theft ring that targeted recreational vehicles in the Graham area has been busted with the arrest of two men last week. The arrests were followed by multiple charges of possessing and trafficking stolen property being filed Friday in Pierce County Superior Court against Dayin Rex Henry, 34, and Shane Bryant Sweetman, 33. The men pleaded not guilty and were jailed in lieu of $40,000 bail. According to authorities, Pierce County Sheriff Department detectives with a search warrant found stolen trailers, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), vehicles and tools inside a large shop building at the defendants' residence on Jan. 25. The day before, sheriff deputies also located stolen property there, including two trailers, two ATVs and a pickup truck, authorities said. One of the defendants allegedly told detectives that they searched the Graham area for trailers during the day and then returned at night to steal them. They sold some of the stolen property on OfferUp, an Internet marketplace that authorities said is similar to Craigslist. The county's law enforcement agencies are "successfully reducing burglaries and other property crimes by focusing resources,GÇ¥ said Prosecuting Attorney Mark Lindquist. "I encourage people to report these crimes so they can be investigated and prosecuted.GÇ¥ In this year's county government budget, funding is included for a proactive property crimes unit in the Sheriff Department and for prosecuting additional cases that Lindquist said will arise.
