Unstable hillside forces highway closure

State Route 7 remained closed early this week in the Alder area because of the threat of landslides.
A state Department of Transportation spokeswoman said Monday that the closure would continue on a day-to-day basis while officials kept an eye on an unstable hillside.
The closure began at about 9:30 p.m. last Thursday near Pilgrim Road East. The two-lane highway was closed in both directions at the intersection with Alder Cutoff Road, and the northbound lane only was shut down at the State Route 161 junction.
