The size of a forest fire near Alder Lake has diminished in size since Wednesday, officials reported. After by about 30 acres the day before, the area that's affected is now down 10 acres to a total of 173 as of Aug. 26, according to the U.S. Forest Service, which is working with the state Department of Natural Resources on efforts to bring the blaze under control. No other new conditions for the fire were reported Wednesday. There are still no evacuations that have been ordered or planned. That and other information was shared by officials Tuesday night during a public meeting in Mineral. More than 200 citizens attended for updates and to ask questions, Forest Service officials said. A web site with information about the fire is available to the public at inciweb.nwcg.gov.
