By Ray Harper As we enter our summer tourist season, the town of Eatonville and the Eatonville Chamber of Commerce are looking for volunteers who would be interested in watering our hanging baskets or staffing our Visitor Center. The town's Visitor Center needs volunteers to staff it Thursday through Sunday, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. This usually involves two-hour shifts and is a low-impact job, with the primary duty being greeting visitors and directing them to businesses or services. There is wireless Internet available, and the Nisqually Tribe donated a diorama that has a topographical model of the Nisqually basin that shows the different salmon runs by pushing a button. This is the main attraction of the visitor center, and it also shows Mount Rainier, which is why most tourists are in the area. The hanging baskets will be in place by Memorial Day weekend and need to be watered daily. The Mashell Avenue reconstruction project was a big success, but the flowering pots and hanging baskets need some TLC. The town has a water truck for watering the plants in the summer, and this is another opportunity for willing volunteers.
