Wine and song in Ashford

For six hours Dec. 5 in Ashford, the Mt. Rainier Visitor Association's sixth annual "On the Road to Paradise" Fall Wine Festival will offer sipping and savoring of artisanal wines and micro-brews from small Washington producers. The event is scheduled for 2 to 8 p.m. at the Mount Rainier Lions hall at 27726 State Route 706 E. Tickets are $25 per person if bought by Dec. 3. After that, the cost is $30. Tickets pay for a wine glass, 10 tasting tickets and chocolate. Organizers said children are welcome, as there is no age restrictions on attendance. They also said the live music that's on the docket sets the event's overall ambience. The performers will include: " Rabbit Wilde (4-6 p.m.) Though all four members grew up running around wooded areas of the same small town in northwest Washington, the group's three founding members didn't meet until they all ended up in New York City. Their music is described as backyard, foot-stomping folk with a big-city edge. " Preacher's Wife (2-4 p.m.). Sarah Feinberg and Brad Heyne, a musical team for eight years, combine folk, southern and west coast influences. " Chris Anderson (6-8 p.m.). Anderson began singing and performing at the age of 18 as the "Singing Busboy" at the former Jebino's restaurant" in Eatonville. Now 26, he continues to dd songs to his "old soul" repertoire ranging from jazz standards to Motown and to traditional pop. More information about the festival is available at 1-877-617-9951.
