For the Unknown Soldier

Middle school students from the Eatonville School District laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Solder at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia during their history-steeped spring-break trip to the East Coast earlier this month. Sadie Schier, Paris Hopkins, Ryan Mueller and Bryce Thirtyacre participated in the wreath ceremony. They were among the 24 Eatonville Middle School and Columbia Crest A-STEM eighth-graders, accompanied by five adults, whose itinerary included a visit to Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Penn. (where the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776), a meeting with U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell’s staff on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and tours of museums, Ford Theater (the site of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination), and the homes of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, “It was such a great trip. We have tons of pictures and memories,” said Michael Sniezak, a history teacher at Eatonville Middle School.
