Man missing for month found dead in lake

The body of a man who’d been missing for more than a month has been found in Mineral Lake, an apparent victim of drowning.
Lewis County authorities identified the body Aug. 9 as Gerald L. Harris, 54, of Mineral.
According to the county’s Sheriff Department, two men fishing on the lake earlier that day called 9-1-1 to report they discovered human remains floating in the water. The anglers’ boats were used by sheriff officers to retrieve the body and take it to shore at a boat launch.
The county medical examiner later ruled Harris had drowned.
Harris was reported missing and possibly drowned in the lake on July 5. He reportedly tried to swim to shore after jumping out of a boat.
