Sportsmen's show spread over five days

The Washington Sportsmen’s Show, a showcase of outdoor adventure, education, gear and technology, returns to Pierce County this week.

The five-day event will be staged at the Washington State Fair Events Center in Puyallup Jan. 25-29. The lineup includes:

• Professional guides, outfitters and resort owners to answer questions and book trips.

• Brutus, a 900-pound grizzly bear at the Montana Grizzly Encounter display. The nationally-known bear education and care center will have information about bears’ unique characteristics and how to avoid conflicts with them in the wild.

• The Yakima Bait “Indoor River,” over 150 hours of free fishing, hunting and survival seminars presented.

• Camp cooking demonstrations.                                                                                          

• The kids free trout pond, where children can catch a live one.

• 3-D archery instruction.

• Mule and horse packing demonstrations.

Admission costs $12 for adults and $5 for children 6 to 16 years old.
