School teams benefit from bowling for dollars

Supporters of high school sports teams in south Pierce County can give them a financial boost by driving a few miles to bowl for dollars.

This summer, Narrows Plaza Bowl is offering free bowling in exchange for a donation of $1 to the school of the bowler's choice. Any school, any district, anywhere," including Eatonville, Graham-Kapowsin and Bethel, said Chris Goddard, general manager of Narrows Plaza Bowl.

"As long as we get the school's name and city, we can send them their donations,"he said.

Last year, the same Bowling for Our School promotion resulted in $3,200 in donations to schools in Pierce County, according to Goddard.

"This year, we'd like to triple that amount,” he said. “At a time when many school budgets are stretched thin, these donations could help offset any shortfalls in school athletic programs that may have seen their budgets slashed."
