A loss to Ellensburg in the tournament’s first round Friday ended Eatonville’s bid for the state 2A high school fastpitch championship.
Ellensburg beat Eatonville 11-0 at Carlon Park in Selah in a game that was shortened to five innings under the 10-run mercy rule.
In what turned into a long day in eastern Washington for the Cruisers, they bounced back in the consolation bracket with an 8-4 victory over Sequim, the same team they defeated a week earlier in the West Central District playoffs to clinch a spot in the state tourney.
But the Cruisers, playing in their third game in a span of about eight hours, were eliminated from the state show in a 7-4 loss to Orting.
The tournament will conclude Saturday.
