McCarthy and incumbents win Port Commissioner races

A former Tacoma Port Commissioner is returning to that position and two incumbent commissioners are staying on as a result of the general election that ended Tuesday.

In unofficial returns posted Tuesday night, Dick Marzano and Don Meyer were re-elected, and John McCarthy won a seat that’s being vacated by its current holder.

Marzano and Meyer had comfortable leads over challengers Noah Davis and Kristin Ang, respectively. So did McCarthy against Eric Holdeman. McCarthy is a former Pierce County judge who was a commissioner for nine years before giving up that post and going into the courtroom.

Voting in the commissioner races was countywide.

The Port of Tacoma collects property taxes throughout Pierce County and is a source of economic development and business for the county and Washington.
