Public ceremonies in recognition of Veterans Day will be held in south Pierce County before, on and after its official date of Nov. 11.
The annual day in honor of military veterans will be observed at schools and veterans' facilities. The schedule includes:
• 8 to 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 9 at Eatonville High School. Snacks and coffee will be served in the commons area, followed by an assembly with veterans seated in a place of honor for acknowledgement of their service. RSVPs can be made by calling Heather Kimball at the school at 360-879-1264. Other schools in the Eatonville School District also will host special assemblies. Information is available from the individual schools. At all of the schools, veterans and their families are welcome, along with other community members.
• Schools in the Bethel School District will host on Nov. 9 and Nov. 13. Schedules are available at bethelsd.org.
• Washington Soldiers Home in Orting is planning a ceremony for 2 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Chilson Hall.
