Car and truck show at Sprinker
The 15th annual CARSTAR Hi-Tech Collision Classic Car and Truck Show on Sept. 23 at Sprinker Recreation Center will feature more than 500 vehicles on display from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The family-friendly event is free for spectators and features multiple car-related vendors and more than $7,000 in prizes, said Becca Boyle, event coordinator for the Pierce County Parks and Recreation Department. "We'll also feature a safari theme, and we’re inviting everyone to join in the festivities with their safari-inspired attire. It's sure to be a great afternoon, rain or shine."
Car owners can enter their classic vehicles (pre-1985 models) through an online entry form on the Pierce County website. Help with registration is available at 253-798-4000.
Day-of-event registration for participants begins at 7 a.m., followed by judging at 11 and awards presentations at 2 p.m.

Kids to be cast in 'Christmas Carol'
The Fire Mountain Arts Council and OnStage Children's Theater in Morton will hold auditions Sept. 23 for parts in its December production of "Scrooge's Christmas Carol."
From 1 to 4 p.m. at Roxy Theater in Morton (233 W. Main St.), children 6 to 18 years old can audition with a short monologue, song and dance of their own or that's provided. Everyone who registers will be cast, according to OnStage.
