Lady Cruisers go 2-1 for the week

The Lady Cruisers (2-2), riding a two-game win streak, traveled to Buckley on Tuesday, Dec. 11, to take on the White River Hornets (5-0).

The Hornet offense pulled away early from the Cruisers and did not look back as they took a 22-point lead in to the half, leading 38-16.

The Lady Cruisers looked to cut into that lead in the second half, but were unable to since the Hornets continued to pull away and take the victory 73-41.

Brooklynn Lucht would lead all Cruisers scorers with 14 points.

The Cruisers then played host to the Franklin Pierce Cardinals on Friday, Dec. 14, and looked to get back to their winning ways.

Eatonville kept things close until the second quarter when they began to pull away. They took a 21-17 lead into the half.

The Cruisers extended that lead behind the hot shooting of Jaelin Hotz who scored 12 of the Cruisers 15 points in the third quarter to head into the fourth with a 36-23 advantage. Eatonville held on to that lead to take the win, 51-36. Jaelin Hotz led the Cruisers with 16 points.

Eatonville then hosted the Tenino Beavers the following day, Dec 15, and looked to avenge their loss to the Beavers earlier in the season.

The Beavers were no match for the Cruisers as they opened up a 14-point lead as the first quarter came to a close and led 24-10. Brooklynn Lucht had the hot-hand for Eatonville with 8 points in the quarter.

Tenino would extend their lead in the second and head into the half solidly on top of the Cruisers, 45-27.

Senior guard Jaelin Hotz heated up in the second half for Eatonville, scoring 15 of her 17 points to try and pull the Cruisers close. The team cut the lead to as little as 7 points at one point in the fourth, but eventually fell to the Beavers 68-60.

Brooklynn Lucht would record a double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds.

After the week, the Lady Cruisers sit at 3-1 in league play and 3-4 overall. Next week they will play host to the Washington Patriots at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20.
