Bethel’s Braves topped Kelso 65-45 Friday in the 3A West Central District girls high school basketball playoffs, assuring them of advancing to the regionals and the possibility of an appearance in the state tournament next month.
The win over Kelso in a game played at Rogers came two days after Bethel opened its district bid with a 73-31 shellacking of North Thurston on Feb. 9 on the Braves’ home court.
Next for the Braves is a matchup with Gig Harbor on Feb. 14, starting at 7:45 p.m. at Foss High in Tacoma. A win will put them in the district title game Feb. 17, while a loss will send them to a consolation game on Feb. 15 that still will give them no worse than fourth place in the WCD. The top six teams move on to the regionals.
