Authorities are investigating an apparent murder week in which the victim was from south Pierce County.
The Pierce County Sheriff Department reported Jan. 4 that employees of Tacoma Towing found a man’s body inside the trunk of a car at a tow yard in Lakewood. Authorities identified him as Tracy Sehmel, 49, who was from the Roy area. They were working with other police agencies to determine the circumstances of the death, which they called a homicide.
In 1991, Sehmel was convicted of manslaughter in the death of a man he punched during a fight in a pool hall.
The car containing the body of Sehmel was a silver Saturn sedan that had been privately impounded Jan. 3 from the area of 97th Street and Sheridan Avenue in Tacoma, according to the Sheriff Department.
