Electrical failure caused liquor store fire

A fire that damaged a liquor store in Eatonville last month was started accidentally by an electrical failure, according to the Pierce County fire marshal’s office.
Arcing, sparking or heating in the area of a display window that contained holiday lights and decorations was the cause of the blaze that broke out late in the night of Dec. 3 at Eatonville Liquor, according to deputy fire marshal Patrick Young, who investigated the incident. The store, located on Mashell Avenue, was closed and unoccupied when the fire started.
In a report on its investigation, the fire marshal’s office estimated the fire loss to the business was $15,000.
The store has been closed and its windows have been boarded over since the fire.
