Eatonville has always been known as a little town with a big heart.
A big part of that kind-hearted reputation is Relay for Life Eatonville, an organization that has donated thousands of dollars to the American Cancer Society to fund cancer cure research.
This year, due to restructuring in this region, our "Relay" has been folded into Puyallup Relay for Life.
Although Team Eatonville welcomes the opportunity to be part of this larger group - we all have exactly the same goal - it is felt that Relay for Life is an important part of Eatonville's culture of giving.
In a recent meeting of past participants, it was decided to fundraise locally as in the past, participate in the Puyallup events as individuals and as Team Eatonville and host an amazing community event here in Eatonville.
Stay tuned for more information about our special event happening July 14 - "A Day in the Park" - which will include the traditional cancer survivor luncheon, survivor's walk, the luminary display and slide show honoring those we've lost to cancer.
Additionally there will be food, entertainment and lots of fun for everyone.
New this year, vendors and craftspeople are invited to participate in exchange for a small donation.
Community input is welcome, as the event is now in the planning stages.
