Look, Listen and Learn

Fire Prevention Week is wrapping up and we would like to share with you what the students at Columbia Crest A-Stem Academy have been working on this week. K-5 grades participated in Looking, Listening, and Learning about their escape plans at their homes and schools in the event of a fire. The 6th, 7th, & 8th graders have been challenged to write an essay Contest on The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and how it influenced the Fire Prevention Program. They have until November 1st to turn their essays in and then on November 13th the winners will be announced! We will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each grade level.

The entire school has been challenged again to memorize their address and phone numbers by May 23rd, 2019. The department public educator will be providing a root-beer float for each student & facility member of the school if they all can memorize these two items. More times than not a child in the family is the one to call 911 to seek help for a loved one! It is vital that they know their addresses and phone numbers by heart so help can arrive promptly.
