Another new leader was announced last week to fill in the vacated spot on the Eatonville School District Board of Directors.

Sammie Jo Thirtyacre was selected to serve on the board and represent District No. 3. Thirtyacre was sworn in by Superintendent Krestin Bahr during the Wednesday, April 24, meeting, according to an ESD news release.

"We are thrilled to welcome our newest board member Sammie Jo Thirtyacre," Bahr states in the news release. "She brings vast experience with systems and data, as well as a passionate advocacy for all children. I especially admire her experience in (science, technology, engineering and math) career and her love for the environment."

Thirtyacre has a degree from Washington State University in secondary education and English with a minor in aerospace studies. She was a member of the U.S. Air Force and had "constant involvement with the educational opportunities for children in K-12."

"When members of the community work together to improve all aspects of our schools and education opportunities, our children are more successful," Thirtyacre states in the news release. "I am committed to utilizing my experiences, passion, skills and talents to continue to make Eatonville schools the best they can be."
