School district cancels all open houses

Last week, the Eatonville School District cancelled its open houses at all locations.

Though some have speculated on social media that this new development may have something to do with upcoming bargaining sessions, the district has yet to comment on the alleged relationship between the two.

The next bargaining session scheduled for Eatonville School District is Thursday, Aug. 29. Some groups have finished bargaining.

Students will still be expected to come to school Sept. 4, though they may not get the chance to meet their teachers beforehand.

Since students will not be receiving the kind of back-to-school direction that open houses are designed to provide, here is some information that might come in handy.

Elementary Schools

Eatonville Elementary School — School starts at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Class Lists will be posted in the front of the school at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Kindergarten parents will be called to set up their Meet and Greet WA Kids appointments. These appointments will answer all questions parents might have. They will be scheduled for Sept. 4-6.

Weyerhaeuser Elementary School — School starts at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy — School starts at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Classroom lists and locations will be posted inside each child’s respective school on the first day, as is customary, or sooner.

Kindergarten students will be having their WA Kids meetings at their respective schools on Sept. 4-6.

Look for more information about scheduling a WA Kids meeting at school by Wednesday, Aug. 28.

Each school will be reaching out.

Kindergarten will start at 8 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 for all district kindergarten students.

Preschool will start for all preschool students on Monday, Sept. 9.

Eatonville Middle School

Eatonville Middle School — School starts at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Eatonville Middle School Orientation will be Aug, 28 for all students. Seventh- and eighth-grade students will use the facility from 9-11 a.m. Sixth grade and new students will do their orientations from 1-3 p.m.

Eatonville High School

Eatonville High School — School starts at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Parent Meeting for Fall Sports — The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Eatonville High School big gym. Call 360-879-1228 with any athletic questions.

Eatonville High School Orientation — The orientations will all take place Thursday, Aug. 29. Freshman will orientate from 8:30 to 10 a.m.; sophomores from 10-10:45 a.m.; juniors from 11-11:45 a.m.; and seniors from noon to 12:45 p.m. This event includes photo day, receiving schedules and lockers, and other orientation activities. Folks can also update their family contact information.
