Cruiser boys finish regular season strong

The Eatonville Cruiser boys basketball team was looking to right the as they traveled to Fife on Jan. 22 to take on the Trojans. This would be the first meeting of these two teams this season.

Eatonville led things at the end of the first quarter, 13-6, led by Jeremy Knoblauch’s 5 points.

Despite Tristan Schoepf’s 10 points in the second, Fife outscored the Cruisers 24-12 and took a 30-24 score lead into halftime.

The Trojans continued to pull away from the Cruisers in the third quarter and took a 16-point lead into the final frame where they eventually took the victory with 61-45 points.

The Cruisers top 12 points came from Knoblauch, Kekoa Visperas and Schoepf.

Coming off a three-game skid, the Cruisers wanted nothing more than to get back on track as they headed into the league tournament. The cruisers visited Washington High School to face the Patriots Friday night, Jan. 25.

The Cruiser defense was the star in the first half, allowing only 4 points for the Patriots.

The Cruisers went on a 17-0 run and didn’t allow a Washington basket until just over five minutes were left in the second quarter.  Eatonville carried a 27-4 lead into the break, led by senior Jarod Humphrey’s 10 points.

The Patriots were able to scrap together a little bit of offense in the second half, but not enough to make a run at the Cruisers. Eatonville downed the Patriots with a score of 58-29 and picked up their ninth win of the season. Schoepf led all scorers with 19 points, 15 coming in the second half of play.

Eatonville finished the regular season as third place in the division and they picked up the No. 11 seed spot in the 2019 South Puget Sound League Boys Basketball tournament. Eatonville traveled to Tukwila and took on the Foster Bulldogs at 7 p.m. on Jan. 28.
