When your team has a very successful season like the Lady Cruiser fastpitch team did this season, you usually get lots of league awards. That is exactly what has happened.
After the team went undefeated in league play and in the league tournament, they advanced to the district tournament and then qualified to play in the state tournament where they finished in 7th place in the state out of 65 schools.
Along with being crowned the 2019 SPSL 2A Division Champions, the team’s head coach Jen Smith was named the SPSL 2A East Division Coach of the Year.
Junior Brooklynn Lucht was named the Player of the Year in the league and pitcher Haley Olson was named the Pitcher of the Year.
Catcher Ashley Hedrick, infielder Mary Chabot, outfielders Kaitlyn and Hailey Rath, and utility player Berkeley Porter were all named 1st Team All-League list. In addition, each of these players were named and played in the league all-star game that was played May 28.
Infielders Maddie Miller and Shayla Coleman picked up 2nd team all-league nods as well. Mackenzie Waller and Dakota Smith each snagged honorable mention awards.
