The 2019 season started off on the right foot for the Eatonville Cruiser girls’ soccer team. On Tuesday, they played host to the Steilacoom Sentinels at B.W. Lyons Stadium here in Eatonville. Senior Halle Noel sent the game winning goal into the back of the net to seal the win for the Cruisers. Junior goalkeeper Katherine Lewis played a big part in the match for Eatonville.
First year head coach Machaela Swartout said, “Katherine was a stud in goal. She made some incredible saves that kept us in the lead. We were also low on subs and we had some girls step up and play hard the whole game. It was truly a team effort.”
On Thursday, the Lady Cruisers hosted the Orting Cardinals and were looking to pick up their second win of the young season.
The Cruisers held a slim lead at 1-0 after a Halle Noel free kick found the back of the net.
The Cardinals would tie things up later on in the match and neither team would be able to score the go ahead goal. The game would end in a 1-1 draw, as high school does not go into overtime.
Next up for the Cruisers are home matches on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the high school stadium. They will take on Cascade Christian, White River and Franklin Pierce. All matches will start at 7 p.m.
