Ardelle Louise (Millbach) Kern September 21, 1934 - February 14, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Ardelle Louise (Millbach) Kern, on the morning of February 14, 2016, in Monroe, Washington. She was born on September 21, 1934 to Ralph Millbach and Eline Stormo, on her grandparents farm in Roosevelt (Snohomish), WA. After moving to Monroe and attending Monroe High School, her and our dad, Bud Kern, married on June 22, 1951. Mom worked for many local businesses, including Camp Riley Drugs (now Pharm-A-Save), Wagner Lumber Co., the dentist offices of Dr. Romberger and Dr. Wilcox. She worked several years for Wolfkill Feed & Fertilizer, Inc. In 1983, she went to work for American Building & Roofing, Inc. on the day they opened the business, where she officially retired at the age of 78. We would like to thank the Morgan family for caring so much for our mom. Mom has spent many hours through the years donating time working with the Monroe Historical Society and was very active in the East County Senior Center, where she made many friends. Over the years, Bud and Curt were involved in auto racing, starting in the 50's, when Bud was part of the group that started Sky Valley Racing Association and Sky Valley Speedway. When Curt got heavily involved in NSRA and WSST with Ed Williams, both mom and dad traveled the west coast with them and helped in officiating by running the back gate, scoring, assisting the flagman or wherever the help was needed. She will be missed greatly by her "racing familyGÇ¥ also. She is survived by her son, Curt (Debbie) Kern, grandson Brady Kern (Yuliya), great-grandchildren, Dylon and Baylee Kern, her daughter, Laurie (Rick) Aschenbrenner, granddaughter, Katie Aschenbrenner and grandson, Darin Aschenbrenner. She is also survived by sisters, Merry (Earl) Goshorn, Barbara (David) Marthini, Deana (Rob) Schab, brothers Gary (Linda) Millbach, Miles (Barbara) Millbach, and sister-in-law, LaVette Moser plus several nieces and nephews. Mom was preceded in death by her parents and step-parents; our dad; son, Jeff Kern; brother, Donny Millbach and sister, Melody Millbach. We would like to extend special thanks to Barb Marthini and Noreen Guptill who made this final journey of mom's easier to bear. I don't know if we could have done this without them. We will be having a celebration of life at East County Senior Center on Saturday, February 27, 2016, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate any donations be made to East County Senior Center in Monroe and Providence Hospice Care of Snohomish County. Thank you everyone for all the kind words and support that has been extended to our family.
