Barn fire cancels annual Monroe tractor show

Tractor also lost in blaze; cause under investigation

A barn and tractor were destroyed in a fire that started early Saturday morning at the Sky Valley Stock and Antique Tractor Show, cancelling the weekend event.

Dozens of tractors were on display at the site for the Sky Valley Stock and Antique Tractor Club's annual event in the 19800 block of Tualco Loop Road. Signs had been posted throughout the property that a burn ban was in effect.

Snohomish County Fire District 7 firefighters responded to a reported barn fire at 5:25 a.m.

“Crews arrived to find the barn fully engulfed in fire with exposure to the residence that was only 20 feet away,” according to a District 7 news release.

With assistance from Lake Stevens Fire, Duvall Fire and Sultan Fire District 5, firefighters knocked down the blaze after 40 minutes, and were able to save a nearby home from catching fire, according to the release. It took four water tender trucks.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause and amount of damage.
