Bearcat Beat: Winter season has begun!

Winter season is in full swing at Monroe High School! Last week, MHS hosted a food drive and raised 502 cans that were donated to the local food bank. It was a competition between all four classes to see who could amalgamate the most cans, and sophomores won by a landslide!
ASB Student Council met for the first time during study period. Each sixth period class chooses a representative to go to the meetings which allow various students to have a say in ASB-related activities. Adventure Group also met to discuss the rock climbing trip they will be going on December 7. To get more information go talk to Ms. Foote to get involved!
On November 29 Science Club will be meeting to see who can build the highest skyscraper and strongest bridge.
Open Run will be starting December 2. It will give students an opportunity to get and stay in shape. Open Run will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45 to 4 p.m. right after school, starting at the stadium entrance. Some important dates are approaching fast! As of today, Thanksgiving is this week, Christmas is in 29 days, and there are only 114 days and two half-days left for seniors before Graduation Day!
Remember, there's a half-day Wednesday and no school Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving break.
Thanksgiving is a special holiday which gives the opportunity to really appreciate the things around you. Thanksgiving differs from many other holidays such as Halloween, Christmas or Valentine's Day in the aspect that there is no tangible giving or receiving. Rather, Thanksgiving is a holiday where we can reflect on what we do have and count our blessings. Everyone lives a busy life, and sometimes it can be hard to stop and appreciate the beauty that surrounds each and every person. So remember to take this time to enjoy your family and think of the good in your life. Embrace the special few days which let everyone become rapt in love from family and all the good in life.
